What the estate gets: the supplier-side pilot
This drilldown is also the reason the grower opts in. In a live pilot, the estate gets a supplier workspace on the same rails: its farm-level footprint, its regen plan tracked against actuals, and a carbon passport it can hand every buyer, not only Tata. That is the pull that makes suppliers want in. The passport unlocks EUDR-compliant, PCF-graded, higher-value contracts across the market, so keeping the data current is in the grower's own interest, not a favour to you.

This single identity is the whole of supplier-specific Scope 3. Everything else (the class formulas above, the estimation methods, the data-quality scores) exists to supply the two terms on the right honestly. A captive estate sits near 100%. A shared converter sits low. The share is never assumed, it is measured against the supplier's output.

Estimation engine: the highest-quality number the data allows
Real supply chains have gaps. The engine answers one question for every supplier: given the data available, what is the best product-carbon estimate we can produce, and records the method, assumptions, confidence and date behind it. It is a decision engine, not a lookup table.
The estimation waterfall
The engine walks down from best data to weakest, stopping at the first method the supplier's data supports. Every step down is a lower-confidence estimate and a poorer PCF data-quality score.
The estimate is a placeholder, honestly scored. As primary farm data arrives, the line climbs the waterfall and the estimate is replaced, never overwritten silently. Today the book sits at a weighted 3.1, which is exactly what the pilot moves.

Attributed emissions = supplier emissions × (what you buy ÷ what they make). Farm streams use volume over estate output; processed streams use spend over supplier revenue. Runs in the allocation engine.

Why version-pin
A disclosure has to be reproducible years later. Pinning every dataset to a version means the same inputs always produce the same number, and when a factor updates, the change is explicit and the delta is flagged, never silent.

On operational disclosure you are mid-pack. On supplier-level product carbon, the field is open: no Indian FMCG has a farm-to-gate baseline across its book, and you already own the farmer network to build one.

Where the ≈4.5 Mt comes from
It is a transparent estimate, not a measured figure. It is anchored to peer disclosure: Britannia, at ₹19,152 Cr revenue against your ₹20,290 Cr, discloses 4.0 Mt of Scope 3, and HUL at 3× your revenue discloses 12.0 Mt. Your tea-and-coffee mix is more agriculture-intensive per rupee than biscuits, so a book footprint of 3.5 to 5.5 Mt is conservative. We show the mid-point, labelled illustrative, and a pilot replaces it with your supplier data. The honesty is the point: the number is defensible, the range is stated, and the pilot's value is better data, not a bigger headline.
We'd rather show you an honest simulation than a pretend product. The engine is real; the unmeasured number is real.
